In 1998, the Labour Court recommended that an assistant foreman return to his post at Bus Eireann’s Tralee depot after the Ictu Group Of Unions raised allegations of bullying and intimidation. The recommendation, signed on 29 May 1998, also called for better communication and a six-month industrial relations monitoring group. The Court said neither side had a monopoly on right or wrong. It criticised the company for not starting an internal investigation sooner, saying the delay had allowed attitudes to harden. The unions sought an independent investigation; the company said it had investigated the allegations and would not tolerate proven victimisation or harassment.
