The Labour Court recommended that PJ Carroll & Company Limited and the Group Of Unions (SIPTU, Atgwu, Aeeu, Teeu) make another attempt to agree redundancy selections, generally supporting last-in-first-out selection while recognising the need to retain special skills. The recommendation was dated 18 May 1998. For workers made compulsorily redundant outside that selection principle, the Court recommended an enhanced lump-sum package of £3,000 to £8,000 to support retraining.
