Labour Court recommends £4.40 and £4.60 hourly rates for Dundalk canteen staff

The Labour Court recommended hourly rates of £4.40 for canteen assistants and £4.60 for cashiers at Dundalk Campus Canteen Limited, plus a £50 Christmas bonus per person. The rates were to rise to £4.55 and £4.75 respectively from 1 September 1998. The Amalgamated Transport And General Workers' Union had sought £5 an hour for 18 staff and a £150 Christmas bonus. The recommendation, dated 19 February 1998, also called for the parties to negotiate productivity arrangements.
