Labour Court sends Servisair weekly-pay dispute back to mediator

The Labour Court recommended that Servisair Limited and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union reconvene with a mediator to clarify a dispute over weekly pay under an agreement using a 39-hour divisor. Workers had received pay based on 40 times the hourly rate before the company changed the calculation to 39 times, which it said corrected a clerical error. The union said the 40th hour should be paid at the flat hourly rate. The Court recommended asking the mediator to interpret the agreement first; if the parties could not reach agreement, it would make a definitive recommendation. The recommendation was dated 21 January 1998.
