Labour Court does not recommend worker’s claim to stay at Film House be conceded

Labour Court ·

In 1998, the Labour Court did not recommend conceding a worker’s claim to remain employed at Film House beyond age 65. The recommendation was signed on 21 January 1998. The worker said staff had customarily been kept on until about 70 and that ending her employment cost her salary. Film House said its pension scheme set 65 as the normal retirement age. The Court noted that the scheme allowed later service only in exceptional circumstances, at the employer’s discretion, and found no evidence of such circumstances in her case.
