Labour Court does not recommend Telecom Eireann promotion claim

In 1998, the Labour Court did not recommend concession of a worker’s claim over selection for a Technical Team Leader post at Telecom Eireann. The recommendation was dated 9 January 1998. The worker said management had led him to expect a confined competition among three Technical Officers after he transferred to the Service Quality Division. Telecom Eireann denied making any undertaking and said appointments were governed by arrangements agreed with the Communications Workers' Union. The Court noted that the parties disagreed about what was said at a September 1996 meeting.
