Labour Court recommends talks on shift work at Group Schneider/Telemecanque

In 1998, the Labour Court recommended that Group Schneider/Telemecanque and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union immediately negotiate arrangements for additional shift work by existing employees. The recommendation was dated 7 January 1998. The dispute concerned whether the company and union agreement allowed the company to require day workers to move onto shifts. The union said 108 workers had been employed as day workers and that their appointment letters specified day hours. The company said the agreement covered all production workers and that it would first seek volunteers. If talks had not resolved the issue by the end of January 1998, the Court recommended referring it back for a definitive recommendation.
