In 1997, the Labour Court said a dispute over Guinness Ireland Group’s proposed district plans had been resolved and recommended that the company and Guinness Staff Association strengthen procedures for future work changes. It also recommended a more positive role for the association in the company’s Teamworks Seminars. The association said the plans added duties without consultation or compensation. Guinness said the plans no longer applied after meetings with sales representatives and argued that planning was part of their work. The recommendation was signed on 17 October 1997.
