In 1997, the Labour Court recommended that final warnings issued to seven shop stewards at Wyeth Nutritionals Ireland be allowed to elapse in their entirety. The warnings followed an unauthorised workforce meeting and a 2.5-hour stoppage in August 1996. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union argued the stewards had been singled out for more severe punishment; the company said the meeting breached procedures. The recommendation was dated 10 October 1997.
