The Labour Court found no grounds to recommend concession of Mandate’s claim to extend an existing bonus scheme to Superquinn back-store staff. The recommendation was signed on 6 October 1997. Mandate said back-store workers contributed to store performance and that bonuses were paid to other workers below chargehand level. Superquinn said the existing department payments were long-standing anomalies and extending them could increase costs. The Court suggested that the parties include the issue in their national discussions, with a view to fair arrangements for all staff.
