The Labour Court rejected a claim by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and National Bus & Rail Union for compensation for Iarnrod Eireann workers who lost overtime and shift premia after Bell Lines went into liquidation. The Court said the liquidation caused a significant loss of revenue and led to operational changes, and asked the company to reduce their effects where possible. It also recommended calculating severance terms for employees whose release was delayed by reference to their present earnings. The recommendation was signed on 25 September 1997.
