In 1997, the Labour Court recommended that Renley Limited pay each employee £550 for moving from Kilcullen to Newbridge. It also recommended nine months of company-funded transport, earnings protection where appropriate for two months, and consideration of modest redundancy packages in individual hardship cases. The recommendation was dated 16 September 1997. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought a £1,000 relocation payment, longer travel support, earnings protection and redundancy terms above statutory entitlements. The company said relocation was necessary for its survival and had offered £400, transport for five months and one month of earnings protection. The Court also recommended acceptance of the company’s Pay Path/backweek proposal.
