The Labour Court recommended that Cantrell And Cochrane (Dublin) and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union jointly study the warehouse bonus scheme, using output figures since it began in October 1996. The recommendation was dated 5 September 1997. The company said picker bonuses had risen to £413 per picker and estimated the scheme overrun at £62,000 a year. The union said workers had implemented the 1996 agreement and opposed changing the scheme. The Court recommended a report by 27 September, followed by talks on how to achieve the scheme’s original objectives.
