The Labour Court recommended that Gypsum Industries PLC offer clerical staff a £600 lump sum and an annual payment of £520 in a dispute over its Staff Efficiency Award. The recommendation was dated 5 September 1997. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought full arrears and restoration of the scheme, which had paid an award worth about £635 in 1992 but made no payments up to 1995. Gypsum Industries PLC sought to end it, saying it brought no additional flexibility or efficiency. The Court recommended acceptance of the company’s proposal, amended to the £600 lump sum and £520 annual payment.
