In 1997, the Labour Court recommended a gross payment of £2,000 to each of two bricklayers in a dispute involving Clonmel Enterprises Limited and the Building And Allied Trades Union. The recommendation was dated 22 July 1997. The workers had been dismissed after starting work at the Leopardstown Bypass site. The union said the workers understood they were employed by Clonmel Enterprises and sought reinstatement. The company disputed that it employed them. The Court concluded they worked for a subcontractor and recommended the payments in full settlement.
