The Labour Court recommended revised daily travel payments for lorry drivers employed by Roscommon County Council following a dispute with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. It signed the recommendation on 20 May 1997. The revised bands were £7 for 10–18 miles, £11 for 18–26 miles, £17 for 26–34 miles and £20 for 34 miles or more, with no payment below 10 miles. The Court also recommended compensation at twice the annual loss for earnings lost as a result of the new proposals.
