The Labour Court found that Wicklow Vec had terminated a part-time teacher's employment unreasonably and recommended a lump sum equivalent to the earnings he would have received up to 1 April 1997. The recommendation was signed on 24 March 1997. The teacher had been dismissed after an incident during an examination, in which he used strong language in an argument involving a student and a secretary. He later apologised to the secretary. Wicklow Vec said it had raised concerns about his conduct with students and staff.
