In 1997, the Labour Court recommended that Texaco (Ireland) Limited’s position be upheld in a dispute with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union over a former worker’s appraisal and career progression complaints. The union sought an independent arbitrator to review the complaints, saying the worker had been disadvantaged in pay and career progression. Texaco said he had received appropriate appraisals and bonuses and suffered no financial loss. The Court signed its recommendation on 27 March 1997.
