The Labour Court recommended a minimum weekly pay increase of £10 when Dublin Corporation's restructuring took effect, rising to £12 from its first anniversary. It recommended no change to the £300 lead-in payment and proposed several other changes to the package for the Corporation's 2,600 general operatives. The recommendation was signed on 27 February 1997. The Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought higher pay, more pay groups and protections for workers affected by changes to grades and jobs. The Court also recommended retaining a Transitional Group, shortening salary scales, consultation on further staff reductions and a disputes panel.
