In 1997, the Labour Court recommended that Irish Life keep commission rates for Personnel Finance Managers at 25p/48p through May, then apply rates of 16p/31p from 1 June. Manufacturing Science Finance opposed the reduction, arguing it would affect earnings, pensions and salary increments. Irish Life said its proposed package would maintain earnings and noted its commitment to provide training. The recommendation was dated 24 March 1997.
