In 1997, the Labour Court recommended changes to differentials and service pay for 36 process workers at United Beverages Limited's Dundalk plant, in a dispute with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and the Amalgamated Transport and General Workers' Union. The Court recommended that the unions agree to staggered morning breaks in return for higher differentials of £8 and £4, and service pay of £3 a week after 20 years and £1 a week after five years. The recommendation was dated 4 February 1997.
