In 1997, the Labour Court recommended changes to holiday and overtime pay for 12 rotating-shift workers at Renley Limited. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought consolidated shift rates for public holidays, including retrospective payment, and overtime at that rate. Renley Limited said it already paid a 25% shift rate and that the claims would raise costs. The Court recommended the consolidated rate for public holidays from the June 1996 holiday and overtime rates on that shift rate from 1 April 1997. The recommendation was dated 24 January 1997.
