The Labour Court recommended that British Midland Airways and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union review their arrangements in 12 months if necessary, after a dispute over the company’s refusal to negotiate with the union about members’ terms and conditions. The union represented 18 of 31 clerical and administrative staff at the company’s Dublin Airport offices. At the hearing, British Midland said it was prepared to continue existing arrangements for workplace issues in Dublin and provide the union access to relevant conferences in Britain. The recommendation was signed on 15 January 1997.
