The Labour Court recommended that Woodfab Limited re-employ two laid-off fitters in a recommendation signed on 28 November 1996. It made no recommendation on the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claim for an agreed redundancy package for future redundancies. The union sought five weeks’ pay per year of service plus statutory entitlement. The Court said there was no threat of further redundancies at the time and that the issue could be referred back if circumstances changed.
