The Labour Court did not recommend in a worker’s favour in his unfair dismissal claim against Doyles Quality Products Ltd, concluding the company had not acted unreasonably. The recommendation was signed on 26 August 1996. The worker, a loader at the company’s bakery in Tallaght, said management refused to consider his requests for lighter duties and vacant jobs. The company said his behaviour and sick absence record left it with no alternative but to terminate his employment. The Court also found that the worker was not victimised or discriminated against.
