The Labour Court found anomalies in the pay and conditions of workers represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union at the Rehabilitation Institute. It recommended that the parties establish a working party to examine internal pay differences and suggest how to address them. The recommendation was signed on 2 August 1996. The union sought an independent study of pay scales and job descriptions across the Rehab Group, citing 23 pay categories among 370 workers. Any resulting pay increases, the parties accepted, could be dealt with only under National Agreements.
