The Labour Court found merit in a worker’s claim for unpaid wages against Moyland Enterprises Limited, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, but recommended that the parties meet to try to agree a payment before it issued a further recommendation. The recommendation was signed on 31 July 1996. The union said the worker was recruited as a builder’s labourer and concrete layer on union rates and allowances and estimated the underpayment at about £900. Moyland Enterprises Limited said the pay terms had been explained when he started and that he was employed on a trial basis.
