The Labour Court recommended that Waterford Regional Hospital continue its practice of porters training porters, initially using the Board’s original proposals for training time. The recommendation was dated 23 July 1996. The dispute was brought by the Amalgamated Transport And General Workers' Union, which said the proposed training was insufficient for the 12 porters who needed to work across the hospital’s theatres. The Court recommended that management extend training time if the initial arrangements proved inadequate.
