Labour Court recommends job evaluations for Forbairt contract staff

The Labour Court recommended that Forbairt and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union arrange urgent evaluations of nine administrative officers’ jobs to determine their appropriate grade for permanent appointments. The recommendation was signed on 30 July 1996. Forbairt proposed appointing the staff at Grade 6, while the union argued their research, reporting and coordination duties supported Grade 5. The Court said the appropriate grade could only be decided by evaluating the jobs. It also recommended that management address increments sympathetically while the evaluations were pending.
