Labour Court recommends Waterford Foods pay drivers three weeks at average earnings

In 1996, the Labour Court recommended that Waterford Foods pay bulk milk drivers three weeks of annual leave at average earnings and one week at basic pay, from the 1995 holiday year. The recommendation was dated 30 April 1996. The Amalgamated Transport and General Workers’ Union sought average pay for all four weeks under a 1978 agreement. Waterford Foods accepted that gallonage payments should count towards statutory holiday pay for three weeks, but opposed extending average pay to the fourth. The Court noted the difference between the parties’ agreement and statutory entitlements.
