The Labour Court recommended that Cadburys carry out moisture testing as proposed and address any reward for the changed work practices under its agreements with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union (SIPTU). The recommendation was signed on 19 April 1996. SIPTU argued that six general operatives should receive extra pay for the additional testing duties. Cadburys said the company-union agreements covered workplace change and that the test would take about ten minutes in an eight-hour period. The Court found that the agreements adequately dealt with claims of this kind and recommended that the work go ahead as the company proposed, with any reward handled under those agreements.
