The Labour Court said a union claim to extend University College Galway’s added-years pension package to all staff should be pursued at national level for resolution. The Court expressed sympathy with the claim and said there was inequity between two employee groups. The recommendation was signed on 29 February 1996. The existing provision applied to academic and senior administrative staff, and eligibility had been extended to include the Administrative Officer grade. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought to extend the scheme to general grades.
