The Labour Court did not recommend that Telecom Eireann concede a worker’s claim that he was unfairly dismissed during probation. The Court, whose recommendation was dated 13 February 1996, found that the company had not acted unreasonably in the circumstances. The worker argued that he had not been warned about the medical grounds for his dismissal or given a chance to provide his own medical reports. The company relied on medical advice and said he was unsuitable for retention.
