Labour Court recommends productivity package at Meath Sheltered Workshop

The Labour Court recommended that Meath Sheltered Workshop accept a package of proposals to resolve its productivity and flexibility dispute with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. The recommendation was dated 9 February 1996. The dispute followed earlier proposals, four of which had been agreed and implemented. The union said the remaining measures were disproportionate to the proposed £10.04 weekly pay increase and opposed a compulsory shorter lunch break. The Court found employees could be required to work beyond their existing attendance hours and did not consider a 30-minute lunch break unreasonable.
