In 1996, the Labour Court recommended that University College Galway bring sick-leave benefits for Temporary Teaching Appointees up to the level operated in U.C.D. and concede the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union's maternity-leave claim. The Court did not recommend conceding the pension claim, but noted added years could apply if claimants became permanent. It also urged favourable consideration of one individual's position on maternity leave. The recommendation was signed on 1 February 1996.
