The Labour Court recommended that Van Den Bergh Foods Limited increase its offer to six transferred employees from £950 to £1,600 gross each for additional hours worked. The recommendation was signed on 26 January 1996. The Marine Port and General Workers Union said the employees had transferred from Drogheda to Rathfarnham on the understanding that they would be compensated for extra hours, and claimed about £2,460 per worker. The company argued that net weekly hours were lower at Rathfarnham and said its £950 offer was reasonable. The Court recommended increasing the offer to £1,600 gross per transferred employee.
