The Labour Court recommended that Eastern Health Board pay a worker £13,000 a year from 1992 to 14 December 1995, then place him on the Grade IV scale at £16,406 a year. The recommendation, dated 14 December 1995, followed a dispute over his pay and duties at St. Brendans Nurse Education Centre. Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said a 1992 agreement on the worker’s job description and salary had not been followed. The Board accepted he had lecturing duties but said he could not be graded as a tutor and offered pay equivalent to that of a library assistant. The Court found that the parties had agreed a job description and rate of pay in 1992, and that his work was consistent with what was required. It recommended arrangements to honour his commitment to contribute to nurse training, with a job description incorporating those arrangements and the Industrial Relations Officer’s proposal.
