The Labour Court did not recommend conceding the three unions’ claim for a 10% approval payment for lead craftsmen and inspectors at Airmotive Ireland, represented by the Irish Business and Employers' Confederation. The recommendation was signed on 12 December 1995. The Amalgamated Engineering Electrical Union, Technical Engineering Electrical Union and Services Industrial Professional Technical Union argued that approval duties carried serious responsibility and that comparable staff in other Aer Lingus subsidiaries received payments. Airmotive Ireland said existing pay differentials covered approval responsibilities and that conceding the claim would harm wage stability. The Court found no merit in the claim.
