The Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claim against the South Eastern Health Board over annual leave calculations for 13 shift workers. The recommendation was signed on 12 December 1995. The union said calculating leave in hours after the introduction of a 39-hour week reduced workers’ entitlement by four hours and sought a calculation in days. The Board argued that leave should be calculated using a 7.8-hour working day. The Court found the Board’s method was not unfair to employees.
