The Labour Court recommended that the proposed integration of the Orthoptic Clinic’s secretarial duties at the Royal Victorian Eye And Ear Hospital be accepted. It also called for immediate discussions about fitting the two job sharers into the revised structure, taking account of their employment conditions. The recommendation was signed on 13 December 1995. Impact opposed abolishing the post, raising concerns about service levels and the workload of other clerical staff. The hospital said the post was no longer viable because some duties were duplicated or would move to the main appointments system.
