The Labour Court recommended that International Contract Cleaners Limited (Icc) and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union meet to discuss a claim for higher pay for about 30 workers in Waterford. The recommendation was signed on 4 December 1995. The union sought rates comparable to Dublin contract-cleaning rates and offered to discuss phasing in an increase. The Court said the claim was not barred under the Programme for Competitiveness and Work and recommended realistic talks about the claim and a possible phased-in rate.
