The Labour Court recommended that the SERVICES INDUSTRIAL PROFESSIONAL TECHNICAL UNION and the NATIONAL BUS AND RAIL UNION agree to a three-month trial of Bus Eireann’s late-night service between the C.R. Bard factory and Galway city centre. The recommendation was signed on 1 December 1995. The Court recommended that Bus Eireann protect drivers until cash was deposited in night safes and introduce new ticket machines. The parties were to assess the service’s safety and commercial aspects at the end of the trial.
