The Labour Court recommended that Rennicks Manufacturing Ireland Limited recognise the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union on behalf of its members. The recommendation was signed on 3 October 1995. The union sought recognition after workers joined it and the company did not respond to its request. Rennicks Manufacturing Ireland Limited argued that most workers did not want union representation and that a works council already represented employees. The Court said recognition would promote good industrial relations.
