In 1995, the Labour Court recommended that Rowntree Mackintosh/Nestle concede the Amalgamated Transport General Workers Union’s claim for a 25% shift premium for temporary shift work. The recommendation was signed on 7 September 1995. The company had proposed a 20% premium, which the union rejected. The Court said the consolidated rate counted as basic pay for overtime and holiday pay, and recommended immediate negotiations on any future shift premium.
