The Labour Court did not concede the Irish Hospital Consultants Association’s claim for pay parity for eight consultants at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. It recommended further discussions between the college and the association to seek arrangements to resolve the issue. The Court said comparable benefits were reasonable to expect, while recognising the college’s private status and financial constraints. The recommendation was signed on 14 August 1995.
