Labour Court recommends transfer and seniority based vacancy process at Irish Ferries

In 1995, the Labour Court recommended that Irish Ferries Limited transfer an employee from the Southern Corridor to the Central Corridor immediately. It also recommended that the fourth and further permanent vacancies be filled first through transfers based on seniority and suitability. The recommendation was signed on 27 July 1995. The dispute between Irish Ferries Limited and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union arose from separate agreements affecting transfers between Rosslare and Dublin. The Court said staff seeking transfers should be accommodated where possible and that the company should make room for existing permanent staff and create permanent positions from temporary lists where possible.
