In 1995, the Labour Court recommended that Toyota Ireland Limited's workforce handle a new car-care product as proposed by the company. The recommendation was signed on 28 July 1995. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said distributing the product for another company would significantly change workers' duties and add work, and should have been negotiated. Toyota Ireland Limited argued the product fell within the range normally handled by the warehouse and would not noticeably increase the workload.
