In 1995, the Labour Court recommended that the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union accept the National Maternity Hospital (The Irish Business And Employers Confederation)’s weekend roster proposals, with compensation of two years’ loss for affected employees. The recommendation was signed on 28 July 1995. The Court also recommended that the union accept the hospital’s wall-washing proposal, said curtain hanging should stay with porters and recommended a staffing review after 12 months. It did not recommend conceding the union’s claim for an assistant head porter.
