The Labour Court recommended that Iarnrod Eireann’s 1993 agreement on overtime for train guards continue, with the clarification reached at a conciliation conference on 11 January 1995. National Bus And Rail Union had sought first preference for regular guards when overtime arose from absent guards. The recommendation, signed on 19 July 1995, said the difference in overtime earnings between guards and depotpersons mainly arose from the nine-hour daily rostering limit for guards.
