The Labour Court recommended that Services Industrial Professional Technical Union accept a 25% shift premium for a new worker on the three-cycle shift in Krups Engineering Limited’s injection moulding department. Existing employees would retain their 36% premium on a red-circled basis. The recommendation, signed on 20 July 1995, followed a dispute over whether the vacant position should carry the 36% rate already paid to workers in the department. The Court said that rate was higher than usual and considered the company’s financial losses and rates elsewhere in the plant.
